Dean Hodgson

Founder · ex-bar / restaurant operator

Dean spent years running independent bars and restaurants in the UK before starting Covered. He has lived inside the daily grind of OpenTable cover fees, ResDiary contract renewals, spreadsheet floor plans and POS systems that don't talk to bookings — the same problems Covered now solves end-to-end.

Why we built this

The reason Covered exists.

Independent restaurants are getting squeezed from every angle: marketplace cover fees that quietly eat the margin on every booking, POS contracts that renew before you've spotted the auto-renew clause, and a tech stack that takes ten browser tabs to run a single Saturday service.

We built Covered because we got tired of stitching together OpenTable for bookings, a spreadsheet for the floor plan, a clipboard for service notes, a separate CRM for guest history and a fourth tool for pre-orders — none of which spoke to each other and all of which charged a per-cover or per-feature tax.

Covered puts the whole operation — bookings, floor plan, service, pre-orders, guest history, deposits — into one place at one flat price. £49 a month. No cover fees. No tiered unlocks. The same product whether you're a 24-cover wine bar or a 120-cover bistro.
