Questions

What operators actually ask us.

Every question we get in the inbox, answered honestly — no sales fluff.

Can I try before I subscribe?

Yes — every new venue gets a 14-day free trial. No card on file at signup, no surprise charges. You get the whole platform for those 14 days: bookings, floor plan, pre-orders, CRM, reports. If you want a guided walkthrough we'll also run a 15-minute demo. When the trial ends you add a card to keep going at £49/month, or do nothing and the account quietly winds down — you can come back later and your data is still here.

What happens if I cancel?

Cancellations take effect at the end of your current billing period, so you keep using the platform until then. Your data stays available to export for 90 days, then we permanently delete it. We never charge cancellation fees and we never sell or market to your guests — that's a hard rule.

Do you offer refunds?

Monthly plans aren't refunded for the current month — you keep access through the period you've paid for and cancellation prevents the next charge. Annual plans get a pro-rata refund inside the first 30 days, no questions asked: email hello@covered.technology with your venue name and we'll process it within one working day. After day 30 the annual rolls to its full term, but you can still cancel renewal at any point.

Do you sign a Data Processing Agreement?

Yes. Covered is a UK Data Processor under UK GDPR, with you as Controller of your guest data. We have a DPA ready to sign — see /dpa for the standard terms, or email hello@covered.technology if your legal team needs a redlined version. Sub-processors (Stripe, Square, Meta WhatsApp, our SMTP provider) are listed on the same page.

Can I switch from OpenTable, Resy or ResDiary?

Yes. Under UK GDPR your current provider must give you a machine-readable export of your bookings, guests and notes. Drop the CSV into the in-app importer at Settings → Migrate — it auto-detects the export shape from OpenTable, Resy, ResDiary, SevenRooms and SimpleERB and maps the data into Covered for you. If you'd rather have us run the import, that's still on the table — just ask.

Do I need a tablet or specific hardware?

No. Covered runs in any modern browser — Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox — on a laptop, iPad or phone. Most teams run front-of-house on an iPad and the back office on a laptop. We do not sell or require proprietary hardware.

How long does setup take?

An afternoon for a self-serve setup. Import your floor plan, opening hours and booking policies from the dashboard, embed the widget on your site, and you are live. There is no mandatory consultant and no onboarding fee. If you want a hand, we offer a free 30-minute onboarding call.

What payment processors do you support?

Stripe is our default — it is the fastest to set up and works in the UK out of the box. Square is supported for venues already on the Square ecosystem. Card processing fees are passed through at cost to the processor; Covered does not take a cut.

How do deposits and card-on-file work?

You can require a deposit, a full pre-payment, or a saved card on-file per booking type — for example: card-on-file for Friday dinner, no deposit for weekday lunch. Charging a no-show is one click from the booking detail screen. Funds settle to you via Stripe (or Square if connected) on their usual payout schedule.

Are updates included in the £49?

Yes. Every feature we ship is included — no tiered plans, no add-on modules, no unlocks. We release weekly, rolled out gradually behind feature flags so nothing changes mid-service. Material changes are announced on our Updates page, and breaking changes come with at least 30 days email notice.

Is there a setup fee?

No. Zero setup fee, zero onboarding fee, zero per-location activation fee. The £49 is the whole bill — £490/year if you choose annual billing.

Can I use my own domain for the booking widget?

Yes. The booking widget embeds into your existing site with a few lines of HTML, so your customers never leave your domain. If you'd rather, we also provide a branded booking page on your own subdomain (yourvenue.covered.technology) that you can link from socials. Custom top-level domains are on the roadmap.

What about VAT?

No VAT. HAMR Ltd (the company behind Covered) is not VAT-registered, so the price you see is the price you pay — £49/month or £490/year, final.

What if I need multiple locations?

Each venue is a separate Covered account today. For groups running three or more sites, email sales@covered.technology and we'll put together a multi-location deal with shared reporting and a single invoice.
